Grand Opening Banners
You've been publicizing it for weeks with signs, ads and mail-outs. Next month is the grand opening of your new business. You are hoping that people will flock to your door. But will they? You'd be surprised at what people can tune out (unless you have kids). And even if your potential customers see your publicity, how much of it will they remember? The most important part, the address, will probably be lost.
But if you display a grand opening banner in your window before the big day, you have people's attention every time they go past. Eventually, the thought, "Hm. Better check that out" is almost bound to cross the minds of passersby.
So your grand opening banner has to be big, bold, and tell the story at a glance. A light, bright solid color (yellow is good), a few simple words in a dark, legible font (name of business, what you sell, day and date of the opening) and one or two graphics (balloons, your product) is plenty. Resist the urge to include too much information. Let people discover the durability, high quality and reasonable prices of your products for themselves, after your banner has drawn them in.
